April 2013 - Present

I just want to start off this post by saying that the derby season is officially over. For only skating for less than a quarter of it, I have to say this year was much more stressful than last... Injury and wedding don't make me a pleasant person. But I'm excited to come back next season.

I went ahead and put this together to post on our team Facebook page. Photos by Danny Nguyen.

Now! Back to our regularly scheduled program! A backlog of the art I've managed to scribble in the past few months...It's not much. I'm hoping next year is less busy...
4-30-2013. Doodling with Sketchbook Ink. It's nice for inking but I don't do much of that these days... Maybe I can play with it more next year.

5-10-2013. I just like doodling girlies with long, flowy hair and undercuts.

06-13-2013. I'm thinking about doing commissions similar to this...Really quick sketches of derby girls...

6-26-2013.

8-01-2013. Again with the undercut...I'm so repetitive and predictable. I'm not challenging myself these days, I'm just drawing to draw.

8-31-2013

9-10-2013. This will be our wedding cake topper. C:

9-20-2013. Yeah yeah.

10-1-2013. Someone asked for a commission!! EEk. I straight up told her that I was pretty busy and this was probably going to take some time and I hoped she was in no rush. :) I'm excited people like my art enough to want to pay me for it.

I probably won't update again until after the wedding. Well, next year is more likely. We're going to Hawaii in January for our honeymoon. Perhaps I shall doodle then.

More wedding thangs.

Wedding planning is stressful. Weddings are also REALLY expensive. I originally planned on doing a ton of DIY but I am seriously lacking the TIME as well. My knee and weight gain has been a struggle, especially as of late..STRESSING over it totally doesn't make any of it better either. Anyways, most of the details are done and I just have a few things to work out and it will be the BEST DAY EVER.

So here's something I DID manage to DIY.
Burlap flowers! Got the vases for free and just tied some twine around some burlap then glues the flowers on it.

Tah-dah! Rustic wedding centerpieces. Now to figure out flowers... I purchased some silk flowers for the bouquets but... I duno. Maybe I'll just fill the vases with water and put a little candle in it. I feel like I shouldn't mess with flowers in the vases because... Well, anyone who plays Pokemon knows that fire>Grass/plants, duh. I've been playing too much of that lately. Oops. Too nerdy. Onto the next post!

Wedding things

In May I took a hard hit to the outside of my left knee with a skate during a roller derby practice. It was three weeks before I realized I had torn my ACL. In early June, I got surgery to reconstruct it. Between that and planning the wedding, I've not been arting much.

But I've been playing with some wedding things (finally! I can't believe how close it's getting!)

The colors of the last two are how the rest were supposed to look. I think I'm using the last one though. :)
Wedding favors! Matches...because Alex and I are a match..made..in..heaven. Yeah? Haha, ugh so cheesey. I want to make a design for koozies too. "To have and to hold and to keep your drink cold". We'll see. AH!

Art update! October 2012 - Present

Oh, hey poor little art blog. I'm sorry I've neglected you...

In fact, I've neglected ART and any sort of drawing lately in general.... Whatever I do is usually a quick sketch on my tablet, a lovely Samsung Tab Galaxy Tab 10.1 that my younger so graciously gave to me for Xmas... or I take a terrible photo of a drawing and put an ugly instagram filter on it. I don't know when I'll every have the time again, I'm guessing not until the end of the year (no, honestly, I am THAT busy and my schedule is BOOKED) but I'd like to revamp this blog so it's easier on the eyes and it's more fun to read. Hopefully that will make me more willing to update it as well...ANYWAYS. So here is what I've been up to (art wise)!
Quicky sketch. Wow, it's been a while since I've sat at a computer and drawn something like this...11-11-12.

Every now and then I'll pick up my sketchbook and inking pens and come up with something nice. I dropped my nice phone and broke it so I had to buy a used one and the camera lens is scratches, so I started to intentionally take pictures at strange angles and putting filters on them to look grungy. Kind of works, I guess.11-20-12.

Ah, yes. My first experience with the 10.1. This was at a Best Buy. I fell in love instantly. The guys working there insisted I draw things over and over again because they didn't believe I did the drawing so quickly. I recorded it and saved it for others to watch in the future.
12-12-2012.

My first tablet sketch!12-27-12.
This was slightly totally inspired by one of my badass teammates...

Tablet sketches. 1-1-13

Tablet sketches. 1-3-13.

Gender bending the Hero of Time. I intended for this to go into an art show and abandoned it...
1-9-13.
Tablet sketch 2-13-13.

I designed our Save the Date cards as postcards. They turned out pretty cute, I think! Notice the date change from the first design...Lol. That was just the first of the many hiccups we've come across since planning this wedding.
3-6-13.
8-bit Heart painted on glass. What a terrible idea! I hate painting, and this wasn't the most fun project I've given myself. This was in my very first art show, Oh My Glob! at War'Hous Visual Studios in Houston on March 30th. Even though it was awful to paint, I'm so happy that it actually sold at the show!! 3-13-13.

Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw. Purposely taken at this odd angle so you can't tell how badly I messed up her anatomy lol. 3-16-13.
Adventure Time art! Also in the Oh My Glob! show. I drew this 3-16-13.
I didn't take pictures of the other pieces, but these are the ones that were in the show. The heart and the middle picture both sold. :] Ego boost! People like my art enough to buy it!

Tablet sketch 3-17-13. I drew this while we took a random trip to Austin. Oh, have I mentioned I'm getting married this year??!

Testing out Autodesk Ink on my tablet. I like the inking brushes a LOT, but most of the other features, like transforming/re-sizing is more convenient and easier in sketchbook Pro. Maybe I just need to play with it more.

Sketches done on my tablet. 4-7-13.

There you go! Hopefully I won't go another 6 months before I decide to update on all my little sketches and stuff.

A small tribute to our lovely Rec League girls.

This is for my dad's Chili Cook Off Team. Haha.
